8 weeks old and off to new adventures

The puppies have all left, and my house is very very quiet. On Friday, ICAN checked 6 of the pups into IWP, much to the delight of the ICAN handlers and IWP staff. My friend and fellow ICAN volunteer Mary and I are co-raising purple girl - Mary picked her up on Saturday. Green boy is promised to a program in Colorado that has directly and indirectly helped ICAN acquire some Golden pups - he has an escort to Colorado on Wednesday morning (flying in the cabin compliments of Frontier Airlines). Gold female is going to Paws With Purpose in Kentucky, a program that has shared dogs with ICAN in the past. Many thanks to Nancy S. for her countless hours midday helping to care for and socialize this litter - I couldn't have done it without her. Wishing all the pups much success in their training and know that they will bring lots of joy to the many people they will meet.

Below are the pups' new names and connections:

Cream male ICAN Jasper - sponsor Priscilla (PJ) F.
A mellow, easy going boy who has an amazingly soft silky coat and loved to cuddle.

Gold male ICAN Sagamore "Morie" - sponsor Sally's CCI change of career dog Maury.
The small pup of the litter - a fun, outgoing pup who could be a bit feisty as he jostled for his place in the puppy pack. The star student of the early training program.

Red collar black male ICAN Tippecanoe - sponsor Dixie C.
The big mellow boy of the litter - never one to miss a meal. A sweet, social pup and wonderful cuddler.

Orange collar black male ICAN Allen - sponsor Cindy S.
One of the more assertive pups of the litter, confident and outgoing. He endeared himself to Sally during one of her visits as he followed her around and sat at her feet or in her lap. One of the early training program pups.

Pink collar black female ICAN Vallonia - sponsor Judy O. The largest female, outgoing, social, and one of the more assertive pups. She can be a willful little darling who should keep her ICAN handler busy. She had the best natural retrieve of the litter. One of the early training program pups.

Gold female - being donated to Paws With Purpose in Kentucky and appropriately named Sally
The softest pup in the litter, sweet and mellow. She is the pup that most resembles Mama Cleo.

Green collar black male CaPR Nathrop - being donated to Canine Partners of the Rockies in Colorado. One of the mellowest pups of the litter and a bit more independent, but a very sweet boy.
**Last minute change. . . Nathrop is now ICAN Benton. Just a couple of days before his scheduled arrival, Canine Partners of the Rockies was left without a puppy raiser and offered Nathrop back to ICAN, not wanting to compromise the potential of a nice pup.

Purple collar black female Shani (Swahili for "marvelous or wonderful") - being co-raised as an assistance dog-in-training by Jamie Y. and Mary H.
The highest drive and most outgoing pup of the litter. A bit too clever for her own good, but completely adorable.
