When I got home from work, I checked the pups, and only counted 4 black pups. After moving Cleo out of the pool, orange collar boy was found under the bedding, none the worse for wear. The pups are getting more mobile, lots of scooching around. They are better able to thermoregulate and are more apt to move away from Cleo and their littermates. There is currently a marked difference in size. The smallest yellow boy weighs 12 oz having gained only 2 oz since birth, but is vigorous. In contrast, his white collar black brother tips the scales at 22 oz having gained 6 oz since birth (see pic). We are continuing the provide the smallest pups with private nursing sessions. When all the pups are nursing together, it looks like a rugby scrum with the pups diving in scrambling for the best spot at the milk bar. And two of the pups have already outgrown their newborn collars. The cream colored boy is going naked, since he is easy to identify. Former green collar black boy now sports a dab of nontoxic green paint on his head.
