Exploring the world

The pups are starting to have short outings outside the pen. I have all hard floors, so the occasional toileting accident is easy to clean up. It is fun seeing the pups' personalities start to manifest with all these new experiences. Purple, Orange and Green are proving to be the bold pups. Gold female is the most tentative. Now that Purple knows where the other pen opening is, she is determined to find a new escape route. This weekend, the puppies also had their first encounter with the vacuum cleaner. Initially they scooted to the opposite side of the pen, but when paired with some human attention, they all came running over looking for pets, not caring if I was also holding the vacuum cleaner hose. And I have introduced them to sensation of a grooming with a small slicker brush which hasn't bothered them. Pink, Orange and Gold male continue in their early training classes. On their lesson plan is: Up, Under, Sit, Down, Touch, Push, Shake, Come, and Look. Success is variable, but the pups seem to enjoy the extra attention and especially the food. The other pups are also getting individual attention and less structured training experiences. Cleo is proving to be a very permissive mama, but my two adult dogs are helping out with canine discipline. A few of the pups have already met the resident house cats, who were less than impressed.
